About the vineyard:
The iconic Storybook Mountain Vineyard is located at the top of Napa Valley, on an eastern slope of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. This Mountain Range separates Napa from Sonoma counties. The entire vineyard is organically farmed and only estate fruit is used.
Robert Parker once described Storybook as "representing the pinnacle of wine quality in California" and one of the six best Zinfandels in the world.
Originally known as Grimm Vineyards and Wine Vaults, the winery was founded in 1883 by Adam Grimm. The winery was destroyed in 1964 by the Hanely Ranch Fire, however in 1976, Jerry Seps and his wife Sigrid fell in love with the wild, abandoned site. The Seps renamed the vineyard Storybook Mountain to denote its fairytale beauty and to honor the brothers Grimm. The very first Zinfandel was released in 1983 and in 2003, Wine and Spirits magazine named the winery "Artisan Winery of the Year" and included Storybook among its top 100 Wineries in the World over 14 times.
Located at the winery are 130 year old caves dug by Chinese laborers. Over 400 oak barrels are stored here.
